About

John is a primarily self-taught artist from St. Louis, Missouri. From a young age John was drawing bridges and city skylines as well as building forts in the woods. John's love for drawing and building things brought him to pursue undergraduate studies in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas and post-graduate architectural studies in Sorrento, Italy in the course Building Beauty. During this course John started drawing the historic architecture all around him in Italy and then in Spain. This led John into the practice of plein-air (outdoor) painting where he has found his focus working in oil. John's practice has a heavy emphasis on drawing skill and a tonal understanding of color. John currently resides in New Orleans.
