About
John is a primarily self-taught artist from St. Louis, Missouri. From a young age John was drawing bridges and city skylines, as well as building forts in the woods. John's love for drawing brought him to pursue undergraduate studies in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas and post-graduate architectural studies in Sorrento, Italy in the course Building Beauty. This program got John immersed in the historic architecture of Italy and Spain, where he began sketching the beauty around him with the intent to create genuine works of art. This practice has led John to oil painting, where he feels best able to capture the color and light of a place as a means to best represent its true essence. John's practice is based primarily en plein-air (outdoors) but also involves studio work. John currently resides in New Orleans and is represented by Gallery 600 Julia.
